If you haven't yet set foot on the islands of the Philippines. Here I am to give you a few tips that my sidekicks and I picked up when we went there a few weeks ago.
To sum up. We loved it.
The landscapes are amazing, the people are super friendly, and we ate a lot of rice.
In short?
We eat… asado
We drink… San Miguel
We sleep… at the Spider Hotel
We get around… by Tricycle

You can start with a trip to the rice paddies to let off some steam before lounging around afterwards.
If you go, you must take Franz as your guide, he's a Filipino in his thirties. He's funny and speaks a little French. You'll sleep at his parents' house the first night, in a house lost in the rice paddies (the view in the morning is amazing), but be prepared to climb. There are 231 steps to get there.
Franz will take you through the rice paddies and to visit several small villages and the towns of Banaue and Batad. On the third day, we went to Sagada to see the Hanging Coffins and the Marlboro Hills.
After losing our bellies walking, and to regain them, we went sunbathing on the islands. We opted for Palawan and Boracay because we weren't organized enough for Coron, unfortunately; it requires a bit more time than we had planned, but it seems it's an absolute must-do.
In Palawan, we stayed in El Nido at Hotel Las Cabanas.
It's the last one on the beach, the best place on the island to enjoy the sunset. Really great. There are a few beach bars to drink piña coladas with your feet in the water. It's nice.
Be aware that internet access is a real hassle, so if you have flights or anything else to book, do it before your stay because it's a pain.
In El Nido, you'll be offered several boat excursions to see coves and lagoons (Tours A, B, C); apparently, the two prettiest are A and C. Thanks to the Hotel, we found a guide who privatized his boat for us and made a mix of the two tours to avoid the tourists. Royal.
For drinks in the evening, we recommend SAVA, a somewhat lounge beach bar, and if you want to go wild continue the night, you can head to PUKA BAR! It's party time!
In Boracay, you absolutely must sleep at the Spider House; the hotel is completely insane. Clinging to the cliff, the view from the rooms is crazy, and you can jump into the turquoise water from your breakfast table.
AND it's far from the city traffic and the billions of bars and hotels overcrowded with Asian tourists.
For beaches, you must go to Ili-Iligang beach; it's deserted and very beautiful compared to the second, Puka Shell beach, which is a bit more overcrowded. You have to walk a bit, past the restaurants and boats, to find some peace. That said, it's still very beautiful.
For restaurants, we liked stopping at Smoke; there are two on the island. A small Filipino eatery atmosphere, and both are good.
